The #Excusas Campaign, driven by Belén Jurado, prompted a large number of brave families and professionals to raise their voices to denounce what is absolutely unjust in schools, at the risk of being misunderstood. An innocent tweet on the social network X started it all, and itshowed that it is not arguments that condemn children to live separated, but rather excuses for not moving the structures that support current school practices. You can access thecomplete list of excuses in Belén’s “Proyecto Madres” (Mothers’ Project).

As a result of the campaign, we have delved deeper into some arguments that question the value of the most common excuses. These arguments help us organize resistance to the inequality that still persists today within the educational community; in other words, we need to awaken this awareness, because change does not happen unless our ways of thinking, feeling, and acting are transformed.

In this vein, we designed a series of t-shirts that, with illustrations by Ricardo Clemente, continue this public denunciation. Wearing them to pick up our sons and daughters from school can be a simple way to help others move forward.

In special education, they will be better
